Children at the garbage dump in Coban
These children live in some of the shacks around the garbage dump

Because we are going to be having a long term relationship with the National Hospital in Coban, we will be trying to work with the children at the garbage dump in Coban.

These children live in some of the shacks around the garbage dump and eat from the refuse there.  It is imperative that we find a way to help them.  This is just a pitiful situation all the way round.

Look at the eyes of some of these kids

Look at the eyes of some of these kids!  What a terrible life to wake up to day after day.   We need money to buy clothes, medicines, books and toys for them.   I am sure none of them have ever had a new toy.

Even if people would donate the toys they get at fast food restaurants, we can use them for these kids and for patients.  Toys can be shipped or mailed to the office.  They need to be small, washable (no stuffed animals unless they are the Beanie Baby type) balls, animals, games etc.  The kids there like things like "Jacks" to play with or  Jump ropes.

Whatever we can get to give them will all be used for the kids Whatever we can get to give them will all be used for the kids.  We also need donated children's vitamins and pain relievers such as Tylenol and Advil for children.  We will be working later this year to put together a Christmas party for these children.  We hope to be able to take them all to McDonald's to eat and have a new shirt or blouse and a toy for each of them.
Most of these children are not in school Most of these children are not in school.  While school is mandatory in Guatemala through the 6th grade, it is not enforced and many children never learn to read or write.  Help us to help these children as we expand our project on the garbage dump at Coban.
