What We Do
- CAMI medical teams travel abroad several times a year. Most of these teams are to Guatemala, but we have recently traveled also to Honduras and China.
- Our screening medical teams visit small towns in rural areas to find patients in need of care.
- Our surgical medical teams travel to different hospitals in the country and perform needed surgeries on children who would not be able to have the surgery otherwise.
- We take almost all of our needed supplies with us when we travel.
- Our surgical teams are always directed by a physician licensed in the country in which we are traveling.
- The local physicians work in conjunction with our team physicians, and cross cultural training is an integral part of each team.
- When the team leaves, our local specialists provide all needed follow-up with our patients.
- We have several program areas that have their own in-country directors to ensure adequate follow up.
